925 Sterling Silver

For the ultimate dining experience, solid silver cutlery creates a memorable and lasting impression of occasion. Each item of cutlery is marked with the Hallmark of the official UK Assay Office, guaranteeing that it conforms to the legal standards of fineness and purity. Sterling Silver has a minimum of 925 parts purity out of 1000, the remaining part containing metals such as copper to improve malleability of the silver during manufacture.

Over a period of time, the silver cutlery displays a most attractive surface finish termed a ‘patina’, which is an optical effect, created by the multitude of very fine scratches that develop during use.

EPNS Silver Plated

The base materials of EPNS – electro plated nickel silver, are copper, zinc and nickel. This alloy displays superior properties of strength and durability required for the manufacture of high quality cutlery as well as providing
the best conditions for adhesion of the pure silver coating. When developed, the alloy was named ‘nickel silver’ simply because of its silvery appearance. Pure silver is deposited onto the surface of the nickel silver cutlery by the process of electro plating to our standard thickness of 20 microns.

With use, silver plated cutlery will also display the same aesthetically pleasing patina characteristic of sterling silver cutlery.
